Motorists are being told to prepare for traffic disruption this weekend when the Vitality WestRun London race takes place.

Thousands of people raising money for charity are expected to take part in the inaugural 10k run through the streets of Fulham and Chelsea on Sunday (November 15).

As a result roads will be closed and parking restrictions imposed in the build up to and during the event, with motorists advised to avoid driving through the area if possible or allow extra time for their journeys.

Organisers say they have been working closely with Hammersmith and Fulham Council, Transport for London and all emergency services to ensure as little impact will be felt by residents and people using the roads as possible, and will be operating a “dynamic reopening schedule” to ensure that roads are reopened as soon as possible, once runners have completed each section of the route.

Roads to be closed or partially closed, on Sunday

  • New Kings Road (Between Wandsworth Bridge and Burlington Road)
  • North End Road (Between Fulham Road and New Kings Road)
  • Harwood Road (Between New Kings Road and Fulham Road)

Roads will be closing at 7.30am. Specific crossing points for vehicles will be available at four points on the course until approximately 8.45am (see map).

Parking suspensions will be in place for 24 hours from 12.00 midday on Saturday.

The race, which was due to originally take place on October 4 but postponed , starts at 9.00am, and the reopening schedule will begin from 9.45am onwards.

It is expected all roads to be reopened fully by 12.00 midday.
