A vegan protest in Trafalgar Square on Saturday (August 26) saw fake blood-covered activists pretending to be human meat.
The demonstration, organised by Direct Action Everywhere, attracted large crowds around the protesters, who lay down inside large bloodied bags labelled as "human meat".
Signs put down around the popular tourist attraction included animal pictures captioned with "I want to live", alongside banners stating "it's not food, it's violence" and meat package price labels reading "life itself".
Wayne Hsiung, co-founder of Direct Action Everywhere, spoke after the event and said he envisions a world where animals live free from captivity.
"Every animal killed by the meat industry was a unique individual, just like a dog or cat," he said.
"Yet they are transformed by a deceptive industry into something unrecognisable -mass commodities for consumption.
"But as more people wake up to the truth of what happens in slaughterhouses and animal farms, change is happening."
He added: "At Direct Action Everywhere, we believe that animals should have the right to live free from captivity and violence, just like us.
"We envision a world where animals' rights, including the right not to be killed and transformed into a product, are enshrined in our legal system."
On Saturday (August 26), the protesters lay in meat packages as nearby activists encouraged members of the public to convert to being a vegan.
One of the protesters, who chose to remain anonymous, told the MailOnline: "We as vegans want to show other people there's a compassionate way to live and how to treat animals.”
