Uxbridge 's hugely anticipated new Primark store is still on course to open in 2017 as work continues on the town centre shop.

The opening of the discount fashion store has been in the works since 2014 and was not officially announced until September 2015.

The work on the shop in The Pavilions shopping centre is nearing completion and Primark is likely to be a welcome addition to Uxbridge.

There is still no specific opening day for the new store, but a spokesman for the company said it is still expected to open its doors in Spring 2017.

Primark is due to open in the spring

In October, Primark revealed the store's opening had been delayed until spring after it was due to be start welcoming customers before Christmas.

Job applications for 120 jobs opened at the end of October and interviews were held in November last year.

Those job applications are now no longer available on the Primark website.

The new shop will be spread across two floors and will have entrances from both High Street and Chequers Square.

It has been welcomed by both councillors and residents.
