A murder investigation has been launched in Uxbridge after a man was shot dead.

The Metropolitan Police were called to Vine Lane, at the junction with St Andrews Lane, by London Ambulance Service, just before 7pm on Tuesday, following reports of a shooting.

A 38-year-old man was found suffering from gun shot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 7.56pm.

Local road closures remain in place in the area as police enquiries continue.

No arrests have been made and officers still need to inform the man's next of kin.

A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.

The Homicide and Major Crime Command based are investigating.

Speaking on Wednesday, police said they believed the shooting was a "targeted" attack and was not random.
