After years of waiting, shoppers in Uxbridge stormed through the doors of the new Primark store over the weekend.

Crowds descended on the town centre for the grand opening on Saturday (March 25) from 10am.

Long queues had formed down the High Street prior to the opening and a ribbon cutting ceremony took place in the presence of the Mayor of Hillingdon, councillor John Hensley.

There were mixed reactions from shoppers with some praising the organisation and fast moving queues, while others were not so excited.

Daisy Sharp commented on getwestlondon: "I've just been and although busy, it's well organised!

"Queue was massive as expected for first day but moved very quickly! They gave us free bottled water and sweets too!"
