More than £30,000-worth of unsafe electrical goods was seized and destroyed after being intercepted at Heathrow Airport .

Three shipments containing around 1,000 items of LEDs, power adapters and facial steamers were stopped and assessed at the border.

Hounslow Council's trading standards enforcement officers found the electrical items failed to comply with safety regulations.

The seizure was part of the ongoing National Trading Standards Safety at Ports project.

Electrical items did not comply with labelling requirements and essential safety requirements.

The importer failed to provide certificates and other supporting documentation to support initial safety claims.

This resulted in the products posing a potential risk to UK consumers.

As the importer could not bring the products in compliance with UK law, they were confiscated and then destroyed by Trading Standards.
