UKIP has denied a final decision has been made on whether or not it will back Boris Johnson for the Uxbridge & South Ruislip seat in the general election.

It was reported on Thursday (May 4) that UKIP would pull out of the race to back the Tory candidate over his support of Brexit.

However, a UKIP spokesman told getwestlondon a final decision on its plans for the constituency had not yet been made.

The foreign secretary is up against Labour's Vincent Lo, the Liberal Democrat's Rosina Robson and the Green Party's Mark Keir.

Mr Johnson, the former Mayor of London, is gunning to retain the seat he has held since 2015.

In that year's election, Mr Johnson secured victory with 22,511 votes, ahead of Labour's Chris Summers with 11,816 and UKIP's Jack Duffin with 6,346.

Last month, the Green Party announced it was pulling out of the Ealing Central and Acton seat to help Labour candidate Rupa Huq beat Conservative candidate Joy Morrissey in one of the UK's most marginal seats.
