Two men remain in custody after armed police raided houses in Hounslow and Ealing as part of an anti-terrorism crackdown.

Six properties were targeted yesterday (Wednesday) by officers from SO15 under Schedule 5 of the Terrorism Act.

These included two addresses in Greenford, one in Hounslow and one in Brentford. A further two houses were included under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE).

Officers also went to Walthamstow and High Wycombe and a number of vehicles were also searched as part of the investigation.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police today confirmed a 30-year-old man was arrested in Hounslow and an 18-year-old man was arrested in Brentford.

They were detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit GBH and not for terrorism related offences.

He revealed the searches were not in response to any immediate threat or risk to the public.

However, it has recently been announced that the force is trying to prevent UK citizens from joining the war in Syria.

The two men are at present in custody in a west London police station pending further enquiries.
