A 44-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman have died in two separate crashes in west London involving buses.

The first collision happened at around 9pm on Tuesday night (April 14) in Uxbridge Road, outside Ealing Hospital, Southall. The 44-year-old man was hit by a bus.

In the second incident, a woman was hit and killed by a bus a bus at around 7.30am on Wednesday morning (April 15) in Westfield Way, Shepherds Bush, near Westfield shopping centre.

In both incidents, the victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

Met Police confirmed no arrests have been made.

A police spokeswoman said: "Police were called at 7.24am this morning to reports of a collision involving a bus and a pedestrian in Westfield Way, Shepherds Bush.

"Officers and London Ambulance Service (LAS) attended and the pedestrian, a female aged 50, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Next of kin have not been informed; formal identification awaits.

"The driver of the bus stopped at the scene. She was not arrested."

She added: "Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, based at Merton, investigate.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision, or the events leading up to the collision, is asked to call the witness line on 020 8543 5157. Enquiries continue."

An LAS spokesman added: "We were called at 7.23am to reports of a road traffic collision at Uxbridge Road and Shepherd's Bush Green.

"A number of resources were sent to the scene including a medical team from London’s Air Ambulance, who arrived by car. We arrived within three minutes.

"Sadly, a woman was pronounced dead at the scene by a doctor from London’s Air Ambulance."

A nearby florist, who did not wish to be named, told getwestlondon: "I got here at 7.45am and saw the fire rescue unit and two pumps and a ladder.

"There were four firefighters using a big blanket covering an area by the driver's side window. Paramedics were treating someone on the floor.

"The tube station was half closed.

"The bus and police investigation unit arrived and the next thing I saw was a body being covered. It was very sad."

In relation to Tuesday's incident in Southall, a police spokesman said: "Police were called at 9.05pm on Tuesday to reports of a collision involving a bus and a pedestrian in Uxbridge Road, outside Ealing Hospital, Southall.

"Officers and LAS attended and the pedestrian, a man aged 44, was pronounced dead at the scene at 9.26pm.

"Next of kin have been informed; formal identification awaits.

"A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place at Fulham Mortuary on Wednesday.

"The driver of the bus stopped at the scene. He was not arrested.

"Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, based at Alperton, investigate.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision, or the events leading up to the collision, is asked to contact the witness line on 020 8991 9555."
