Twickenham police incident: Man remains in hospital following shooting

Police investigating the incident, which happened on Monday (August 1) night, are yet to make any arrests

No arrests have been made by police investigating the fire arms incident in Twickenham on Tuesday (August 1).

Officers are still investigating and say a victim remains in hospital with a gun shot wound which is not life threatening.

The Met’s Trident team is investigating.

Police were called to Chertsey Road in Whitton after shots were heard fired at around 10.50pm.

Officers attended and found evidence of a firearm discharged, but no injured person.

Just after 11pm, police were alerted to a male at a west London hospital suffering a gun shot wound .

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “The two incidents are, at this early stage, being treated as linked.

“The Trident and Area Crime Command are investigating.”

The road alongside the A316 was taped off by investigating officers for much of Wednesday (August 2) while a crime scene was set up.

Police presence in Twickenham

This was lifted later on Wednesday evening.

A Met spokesman had told getwestlondon : “The crime scene is no longer in place, there have been no arrests and the victim is still in hospital.”

Around 20 houses were cordoned off between Meadway and just past Gloucester Road.
