A gunman is still on the loose nearly four days after shots were fired in Twickenham and a man taken to hospital with gunshot wound.

Police have made no arrests after the the firearms incident in Whitton on Tuesday (August 1) night.

The Metropolitan Police Trident team are still investigating and say the victim remains in hospital with a gunshot wound, which is not life-threatening.

Police were called shortly before 10.50pm on Tuesday to a reports of shots heard in Chertsey Road, Whitton.

But when officers attended, they found evidence of a discharge of a firearm, but no injured persons.

Just after 11pm, police were alerted to a male presenting at a west London hospital suffering a gunshot wound

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said: “The two incidents are, at this early stage, being treated as linked. The Trident and Area Crime Command are investigating.”

The road alongside the A316 was taped off by investigating officers for much of Wednesday (August 2) while a crime scene was set up.

This was lifted later on Wednesday evening.

A Met spokesman told getwestlondon on Saturday: “The crime scene is no longer in place, there have been no arrests and the victim is still in hospital.”

Around 20 houses were cordoned off between Meadway and just past Gloucester Road.
