The driver of a car which overturned on the A316 Chertsey Road in Twickenham has died at the scene.

A grey BMW overturned near Godfrey Avenue and was found by police officers at around 12.25am on Thursday (October 5).

Police believe the car was travelling on the westbound carriageway but ended up on its roof on the eastbound carriageway of the busy road.

London Fire Brigade attended and London Ambulance Service paramedics treated a man believed to be in his 30s but he was pronounced dead at 12.52am.

The man's next of kin are in the process of being informed by police.

The dual carriageway was closed in both directions while emergency services responded.

The westbound carriageway reopened at around 5.45am and the eastbound carriageway reopened at around 6.40am.

The Metropolitan Police Roads and Transport Policing Command has launched an investigation and would like to speak with anyone who saw the grey BMW or was in the area at the time.
