Over the weekend, no doubt many of you will be heading out on the roads travelling somewhere to enjoy your precious days off work.

But make sure you do not get caught up in traffic.

Here is a guide to road closures and possible delays across west London over the weekend.

Twickenham

Roads surrounding Twickenham stadium will be closed on Saturday, November 19 due to an international Rugby match.

Motorists should be warned that the area is expected to be populated by large numbers of pedestrians both before and after the match.

Kick-off for the England v Fiji match is at 2.30pm, with traffic levels expected to increase before after the match.

Avoid the A316 Chertsey Road if possible, as delays are expected.

London Road, Whitton Road and Rugby Road will be closed and diversions will be in place.

Harmondsworth

Expect delays due to emergency works

Emergency gas works are being carried out on the A4, Colnbrook By-pass, westbound between Sipson Road and Hatch Lane in Harmondsworth.

The A4 is reduced to one lane so expect delays. Work is expected to be complete by November 22.

Chelsea

The works are being carried out over the weekend

The A3220 Beaufort Street is closed between Cheyne Walk and King's Road in Chelsea for resurfacing works.

Works will be carried out across the weekend.

Hanwell

Works began on November 14

Expect delays on the A4020 Uxbridge Road in all directions at the junction of Boston Road in Hanwell, due to works facilitating a major borough street scheme.

TfL warns of delays until September 1 2017.

Chiswick

The works end on Wednesday November 30

As of Saturday November 19, the A4, Great West Road westbound between Chiswick Roundabout and Clayponds Avenue will be closed between approximately 10pm and 5am overnight, to allow for road resurfacing works.

There will be no access to the A4 westbound from the M4, Junction 2 between Saturday 19 November 2016 and Wednesday 30 November whilst the works take place.

Also in Chiswick, motorists are advised to avoid Power Road due to ongoing roadworks.

TfL continue to warn of possible delays in both directions on the A406 Gunnersbury Avenue at the junction of Power Road in Chiswick.

It is due to the closure of Power Road for continuing bridge replacement works.

Works began in June this year and will continue until December 31.

Knightsbridge

Expect delays

Work continues until April 2019 during the redevelopment of 55-91 Knightsbridge.

It is affecting the A4 in Knightsbridge in both directions between Wilton Place and William Street and the westbound bus lane is closed.

Hyde Park

Expect delays due to Winter Wonderland

Motorists are being warned to expect large numbers of pedestrians in the Hyde Park Corner, Marble Arch and Park Lane areas due to the park's Winter Wonderland event.

The event is open from 10am until 10pm daily and some internal roads within the park will be closed or for event access only.

Hammersmith

Motorists should expect delays on Hammersmith bridge.

The A306 at the bridge has a new weight limit imposed. Due to safety reasons, only one bus can cross the bridge at a time.

Delays will continue until the bridge is fully refurbished, which is expected to be by the end of December this year.

Harrow Road

The B414 Elgin Avenue will be closed on Sunday, November 20

The B414 Elgin Avenue is closed on Sunday, November 20 at the junction of Harrow Road to facilitate a Crane operation for construction work.

Motorists are being warned to expect delays on Harrow Road.

Feltham

The A244 High Street in Feltham is closed in both directions at the junction of Hanworth Road for resurfacing work.

It closed on Monday, November 7 and will be off limits until Friday November 25.
