A fire in the early hours of this morning which gutted a first floor flat in Twickenham led to one person being treated for shock.

The person was treated at the scene by paramedics from the London Ambulance Service , while at least 11 other people left the building before the London Fire Brigade arrived.

Around 20 firefighters and officers were sent to the scene of a blaze at a shop with flats above in King Street on Wednesday (April 19) morning.

The brigade said a studio flat on the first floor was completely damaged by the fire.

Four fire engines from Twickenham and Heston fire stations attended the scene.

The brigade were called at 2.46am and the fire was under control by 4.15am.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
