A man caught secretly filming up the skirts of women on Tube trains while travelling the London Underground has been sentenced.

Martin Seaman was arrested by plain-clothed British Transport Police (BTP) officers at South Kensington on September 13 after he was spotted boarding several trains in west London and placing a rucksack near women.

But he dodged a jail term when he was given a suspended prison sentence.

It is not the first offence of this nature that the 55-year-old has committed, as he admitted breaching a sexual harm prevention order which prohibited him from carrying a recording device on public transport.

When appearing at the same court on Wednesday (December 8) he also admitted another charge of committing an act of outraging public decency.

During an earlier hearing at Blackfriars Crown Court on November 9, prosecutor Efstathios Divaris said the defendant had been spotted acting suspiciously at Green Park station at around 5pm.

He was followed on several trains and carriages, also switching Tubes at Piccadilly Circus, and seen placing his rucksack near several females.

Officers spotted a blue light emitting from the bag and stopped Seaman, from Rectree Road in Dagenham.

Three recording devices were found - a homemade camera and two mobile phones.

The court was told it was the third time Seaman had breached the order.

Soon after his arrest in September, BTP tweeted that its officers had arrested a man at South Kensington Tube station .

He was given an eight-month prison sentence suspended for two years, told to carry out 20 days rehabilitation activity and take part in an accredited programme.
