Two children were assaulted on board the Metropolitan line after a man was allegedly unhappy with their feet resting on the seats.

British Transport Police is appealing for witnesses after two children were "shouted at" and "grabbed on the ankle".

An image of a man officers would like to speak to in connection with the incident has been released.

The incident, which took place at around 5.20pm on November 12, left the children, aged four and five, and their mother, in distress after the shocking moment when the train was at Wembley Park.

A British Transport Police spokesman said a man was unhappy that the children had their feet on the seats.

The spokesman said: "He grabbed one of the children by the ankle and the other by the knee and tried to physically remove them from the seats."

The incident took place on the Met line from Liverpool Street to Uxbridge

Officers are asking people to try and recall the incident on board the service from Liverpool Street to Uxbridge .

Investigating officer PC Ryan Hutchings said: "The children and their mother were left distressed after the incident and I am very keen to speak to anyone who was travelling in this particular tube carriage and may have witnessed the incident.

"If you have any information about this incident please contact 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016 citing reference 84 of 28 December.”
