A late-night sports bar in Earls Court is being forced to close permanently after a number of violent incidents both and outside its premises.

Kensington and Chelsea Council’s Licensing Committee took the decision to revoke the licence of Game, formerly known as Ping, in Earls Court Road at a meeting on October 29.

The club had had its licence suspended by the council last month (October) following violent clashes on October 3 where members of staff were attacked.

Earlier this year, a customer who became unwell at the club was later told by hospital staff that it was likely her drink was spiked.

During the council meeting, licensing officers provided evidence serious crime and disorder, which culminated in the fight which saw doormen injured and property damaged.

Kensington and Chelsea Police welcomed the decision. Inspector Eddie Armstrong said: “Police had concerns about running of the bar Game for some time. Although police licensing officers had been working with the venue to reduce crime and disorder linked to the premise, this did not have the desired effect, with incidents continuing culminating in a serious occurrence on 3rd October where staff were attacked by customers.

“Due to the level of crime and disorder at Game, as well as the fact that police had lost confidence in the venue management, it was considered necessary to submit an expedited review application.

“Police asked the licensing sub-committee to suspend the premises license, which they did and subsequently revoked it at a full hearing.”
