Travellers who attempted to gain access to Alexandra Park in South Harrow have left after being moved on by police.

A group were seen trying to move their caravans into the park at around 6pm on Thursday (July 29), with around seven caravans being towed into the park.

However, police just after 8pm and issued the travellers with a formal notice to leave the park, which they complied with and soon left Alexandra Park.

A council spokesperson told getwestlondon: "I can confirm that there are no travellers here (at Alexandra Park). They tried to gain access to the site but were moved on."

This is one but a number of traveller related incidents to happen in west London in the past months, with Norwood Green in Southall constantly being used as a camp .
