The bus driver involved in a collision with a police car racing to attend the scene of a stabbing in Hammersmith has been released from hospital.

It comes as Transport for London (TfL) told getwestlondon it had launched a full investigation into the incident, which happened shortly before 6pm on Saturday (July 18).

Police had been called at around 5.45pm after a man, believed to be in his 20s, was stabbed near Hammersmith Broadway shopping centre.

A short time later, a police car en-route to the incident was involved in the collision with a London United-operated 220 bus, on Talgarth Road at the junction with Fulham Palace Road.

A spokesman for the company said the driver was involved in a collision with a police car at Hammersmith Broadway at 5.50pm.

He continued: “Our driver who was taken to hospital and later released is thankfully doing well.”

The two police officers in the car were also taken by ambulance to hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Their latest condition and that of the stabbed male are not known.

It is believed there have been no arrests in connection to the stabbing.
