A trainee detective constable has been fired from the Met after failing a drugs test.

TDC Alastair Rudd, who is attached to Hammersmith and Fulham borough , tested positive for the controlled drug cannabis after a random testing on March 9.

He was dismissed after a misconduct charge was proven at a Special Case Hearing held on Thursday (June 30).

The chairperson of the misconduct hearing, Assistant Commissioner Helen King, stated: “TDC Rudd very clearly knew that it was against the law to smoke cannabis on the occasions that he chose to do so.

“The public have a right to expect police officers to maintain the highest standards of behaviour on and off duty and in particular that they comply with the laws they enforce on others.

“When this does not happen, it very clearly undermines public trust and confidence on which our model of policing relies.”
