A single mum-of-four has thanked volunteers behind a "life-changing" home makeover.
Mandy Elson was sleeping in the front room of her three-bedroom flat on the Ivyridge estate in Isleworth , the paint was flaking and there was a big hole in one of the walls.
But staff from Godrej UK came to her aid, dividing the living room to create a bedroom for her, patching up the walls and giving the children's bedrooms a snazzy new look.
A team of 19 volunteers from the Hounslow firm behind Soft & Gentle deodorants spent three days and invested more than £1,000 renovating her home in Summerwood Road.
The 30-year-old was chosen to receive the free refurbishment after enduring a difficult time, losing her mum Jacqueline to cancer in November 2014, seven months before her grandmother Barbara also died.
"This has made a huge difference to our lives. It's helped me close the door on what's been a difficult period and move on with my life," said Ms Elson, whose children are aged between four and 11.
"It's great to have my own room, and the children are delighted with how their rooms look now."
Godrej UK had appealed via getwestlondon last year for good causes to support around Hounslow.
'Children delighted with new-look rooms'
In December, volunteers from the company responded to a request to renovate the garden and play area at St John's Nursery in Isleworth.
In February this year, they descended on Ms Elsdon's flat after Simon Anderson, chairman of Ivybridge Tenants Action Group (IVYTAG) recommended her as a worthy recipient.
"I met Mandy just prior to Christmas and she explained that she had four children and this would make a huge difference for them," said Sarah Selwood, of Godrej UK.
She added that the firm's next big volunteering effort would take place in June when it teams up with the environmental charity Thames 21 to clear rubbish dumped in the river at Cranford Park .
