A toddler died on his way to hospital after being hit by a car in Harrow.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following the death of a three-year-old boy involved in a collision on Lowther Road in Stanmore.

The Metropolitan Police said they were called at 5.51pm on Thursday (June 2) to reports of a car in collision with a child.

Officers, the London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance attended the scene but sadly the boy died en route to the hospital at 6.33pm.

Next of kin have been informed.

A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.

The female driver stopped at the scene of the crash.

Detectives from the Roads and Transport Policing Command investigating the fatal crash are urging people who saw the accident or the moments leading up to it, to come forward.

No arrests have been made and police enquiries continue.
