The three men arrested in connection with a suspected arson attack which killed a man in Southall have been released on bail.

Detectives in Ealing who arrested the men aged 30, 35 and 40, on suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson on Thursday (April 29), were bailed to return to a west London police station in early September pending further enquiries.

A 22-year-old man was arrested earlier this week on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and bailed to return to a date in mid-June.

The fatal fire in Cranleigh Gardens on Monday (April 25) saw firefighters rescue a man from a garage blaze before being rushed to a specialist burns hospital where he later died.

The victim has been named as 21-year-old Sherif Adel Makar Habib from Acton.

A post-mortem examination at Uxbridge Mortuary gave the initial cause of death as severe burns.

The victim’s next of kin are being supported by a specially trained Family Liaison Officer (FLO) from the police.

The death is being treated as unexplained and police enquiries continue.

Detective Inspector Janet Livesey, Ealing Police CID, said: “I would like to appeal to anyone with any information, or indeed anyone who witnessed the fire to come forward and speak to the police in confidence.”

Anyone with any information should call police on 020 8721 7070 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
