Swimmers raised thousands for charity while taking part in the UK’s biggest charity swim event.

Everyone Active swimmers from Acton and Northolt centres, both operated in partnership with Ealing Council, raised more than £2,624 for Marie Curie while participating.

Twenty-seven local swimmers joined in this year and swam 1.5k, 2.5k or 5k distances, individually or as part of team.

Cabinet member for transport, environment and leisure, Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, said: “Swimming is a fantastic sport and a great way for people of all ages and abilities to get fit and stay active.

"I’m delighted our leisure centres have played host to this wonderful event allowing so much money to be raised for this worthy cause.”

Everyone Active Acton general manager, Luke Charlton, added: “This was an incredible feat from swimmers who took to the water.

“There was a great atmosphere with plenty of supporters cheering the swimmers from the poolside.

"I would like to congratulate all the swimmers who trained so hard to complete their challenge. They should be very proud of their achievements and I’m delighted the Ealing swimming community raised so much money for such an important charity.”
