The first wave of passengers to travel through the new Terminal 2 building in June will be greeted by a host of British eateries and retail brands.

People can expect more premium restaurants including a new restaurant created by four local female chefs called The Gorgeous Kitchen and Heston Blumenthal ’s first airport eatery Perfectionists Cafe.

The renowned chef has been developing the menu for around 18 months which will celebrate Britain's favourite dishes such as burgers, fish and chips and wood burn oven pizzas.

Mr Blumenthal said: "The demands of an airport outlet are quite different from our other restaurants.

"Some guests will have very little time to spend with us and others, in transit or with longer check-ins, will have time to linger.

"The restaurant will of course cater to both, but we want to deliver food that is fun and familiar – food that is stimulating to the palate and at the same time easy to enjoy."

Of the 63 restaurants and shops, other confirmed favourite British stores include the first-ever airport John Lewis, Cath Kidston and London's Pride by Fullers, with international makes such as Bottega Veneta and Michael Kors.

Known as The Queen's Terminal, T2 is expected to build on Heathrow's record as the world's best airport for shopping and restaurants when it opens on June 4, this year.

Max Vialou-Clark, Heathrow’s retail director said: "Terminal 2’s opening will introduce Heathrow passengers to a whole new experience when they fly with us.

"From a restaurant created by Michelin-starred Heston Blumenthal to everyone’s favourite, John Lewis - we have really pushed the boundaries of what is expected from an airport."
