A teenager has been shot in the foot while cycling around Regent's Park.

A bullet was removed from the ankle of a 17-year-old boy who was treated by doctors at a north London hospital, the Metropolitan Police said.

Detectives are appealing for information after they were called to the hospital in the early hours of Monday (July 17), just before 2am.

Officers believe the shooting took place between 11.30pm and 12.30am earlier that evening in or near Albany Street.

Police said the boy suffered a gunshot wound to his ankle but his injuries were not life threatening.

He has been discharged from hospital.

The Met's Trident and Area Crime Command is investigating and want anyone with information to come forward.

Anyone who can help is asked to call Detective Constable Simon Carson on 0207 230 9737, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.
