19-year-old Duval Evans has been sentenced to 46 weeks' imprisonment

During the search, an officer found a weapon in Evans' jacket pocket.

After trying to flee with the knife in hand, leading to a struggle, Evans was arrested.

The teenager pleaded guilty at Hendon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (May 17) and was sentenced to 46 weeks' imprisonment.

Police Sergeant PJ Jones, from Harrow, said: “We have the support of our local communities and partners to target knife carriers.

“Communities are now speaking out about their intolerance of those who continue to endanger lives by carrying weapons.

“We will stop those who carry knives, we will search them, and we will imprison them to protect our residents.

“This sentence demonstrates the courts dedication to sentencing knife carriers to custodial sentences."
