A teenager has been arrested in Uxbridge on suspicion of the murder of a 17-year-old in Walthamstow.

Elijah Dornelly died at hospital shortly after being stabbed in east London on Sunday May 7.

An 18-year-old was arrested in Uxbridge on Monday (May 15) on suspicion of murder and remains in custody at a north London police station.

London Ambulance Service was called to High Street in Walthamstow after reports of a stabbing at around 11.30pm on May 7 and found Elijah with a serious stab wound.

The knife attack forms part of a prolonged period of heightened knife crime in London.

Detective Chief Inspector Matt Bonner, of Homicide and Major Crime Command at the Met Police, said: "This murder has left Elijah's family devastated.

"While we have made significant progress with our investigation into Elijah's murder, it is vital that anyone who saw this incident, or the events leading up to the incident, gets in touch.

"While work continues to piece together Elijah's movements prior to his murder, I would directly appeal for witnesses to come forward and speak to officers - you may hold valuable information to assist us in this investigation."
