A 19 year-old man has been arrested after a man had his face and arm slashed during the rush hour commute on Thursday last week.

He was arrested only a few hours after the incident and has since been released on bail, due to return to court at a date in October, pending further enquiries.

Police said they were called by the London Ambulance Service at 5pm last night (Thursday, August 28) following an assault in The Broadway in Stanmore.

The victim had slash wounds to his face and arm and was taken to a central London hospital, his injuries are not life-threatening.

Roads were cordoned off in the area, officers from Harrow are still investigating and there have been no arrests.

Commuters passing the incident took to Twitter, @adxgun tweeted: "stabbing on Stanmore high street, apparently a fight that escalated. Blood and police everywhere!"

Nicholas Hair tweeted: "Looks like there's been a pretty serious stabbing outside the banks in #Stanmore... Blood and rags and stuff everywhere..."
