A teenage girl who organised a summer fete in memory of her grandad and a family friend drummed up £1,400 for two charities.

Chloe Botterill-Meli, 16, of Bedfont, with the help of her mum Michelle Botterill, set up the fundraising event to remember Andy Johnson and Sylvia Rogers who both lost their fight for life to cancer.

The funds will be split, and donated to Cancer Research and the Princess Alice Hospice.

The fun-filled event on Saturday (July 11) included a meet and greet with Disney characters including Frozen's Princess Elsa and her friends as well as Mickey and Minnie Mouse, an inflatable slide, wet sponge throwing, henna tattoos, face painting and stalls selling cakes, children's clothes and bric-a-brac.

Some of the other fun at Stoney Wall community centre, Grove Village, included games such as guess the number of sweets in a jar, an auction, tombola and a raffle draw.

Marie Robinson, Chloe's godmother, said: "I am so proud of her, she is an amazing young lady with a huge heart and I am blessed to be part of her life."
