Teen thug jailed for stamping on woman's head during a 'feral' attack

A teen from Isleworth who stamped on a woman’s head during a “feral and unjustified” assault, had been jailed.

Jordan Laghaney was part of a four-man teenage gang which beat a group of two women and a man in Twickenham in January last year after the defendants were approached as they vandalised cars.

The attack left the victim, a 31-year-old woman, with serious head injuries, while the gang’s two other victims were also left needing medical treatment.

Laghaney, 18, was sentenced at Kingston Crown Court on Friday (June 2) along with his co-defendants, which included a 16-year-old girl from Feltham.

The incident happened on January 29 in Powder Mill Lane at 9.45pm, when the victims confronted the teenagers as they vandalised cars.

They were set upon and kicked and punched, during which time one of the women fell to the ground.

Laghaney stamped on her head as she lay motionless, while a 16-year-old from Chessington slashed the victim’s face with the blade from a bottle opener.

The group eventually left the scene before police and paramedics arrived.

A 40-year-old man also required treatment for head and facial injuries and another 31-year-old woman required treatment for back and leg injuries.

Police detained the group a short while later in Powder Mill Lane at the junction with Hanworth Road.

Six people were arrested in connection with the investigation, before police released two 18-year-old males from Hounslow without charge.

Laghaney, from Wood Lane, was given a 30 month sentence after being convicted of grievous bodily harm with intent.

He was also sentenced to six months’ imprisonment for violent disorder and four months’ imprisonment for contempt of court, to run concurrently.

The 16-year-old from Chessington was sentenced to three years in youth custody after being convicted of grievous bodily harm with intent.

She was also sentenced to three months in youth custody for violent disorder, to run concurrently.

A 17-year-old-girl from Kingston was convicted of grievous bodily harm with intent and violent disorder and was given a two year youth rehabilitation order and a six month curfew with electronic tagging.

The 16-year-old girl from Feltham was convicted of violent disorder and was given a two year youth rehabilitation order.

All were found guilty.

Detective Constable Kris Latham of Richmond CID said: “This was a feral and unjustified attack on the victims, who did no more than challenge a group of youths damaging cars in the street.

“They could not have expected to have been attacked in this way.

“However, this case highlighted the strength of the community with witnesses and neighbours coming together to support each other, ultimately securing these convictions.”
