A teenager arrested following a 'killer clown' sighting at Brunel University has been bailed.
The 19-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday (October 11) on suspicion of a public order offence.
It came after officers received reports that between 7.30pm on Saturday (October 8) and 1.30am on Sunday (October 9), a man was seen dressed up as a clown deliberately frightening people.
Brunel University's security operations manager, Terry Vass, says the university takes student's safety extremely seriously: "Brunel's campus is patrolled by security teams 24 hours a day and is monitored by more than 400 CCTV cameras".
The Metropolitan Police said they are currently assessing a number of reports of clown incidents in London, three of which they say "meet the threshold of a criminal offence".
Investigations are under way into the incidents and police are urging people to think about what impact their actions can have on other people.
Commander Julian Bennett is urging people to act responsibly in the run up to Halloween. He said: "Whilst we do not want to stop people from enjoying themselves it is important that while having fun they remember to act in a responsible manner and understand that they could be prosecuted if a criminal offence is committed."
The man has been bailed to later this month pending further inquiries.
