Shepherd’s Bush was on lock down on Wednesday morning after a suspicious vehicle caused two Tube stations to close during rush hour.

White City and Wood Lane stations were both closed for an hour-and-a-half, from 7.30am, as police, the fire brigade and ambulance services rushed to the scene.

Roads around the now defunct BBC TV centre and Westfield Shopping Centre were closed off as commuters tried to make their way into work.

Drivers and Tube users vented their frustration online, with one tweeting: “What’s going on in Shep Bush/White City?? So many police/fire engines and so many roads blocked off??”

The Met Police told getwestlondon: “We were called at 7.34am to reports of a suspicious vehicle but all police have stood down now.”

During the summer, Westfield was evacuated during a bomb scare which turned out to be a false alarm.
