A suspected World War Two bomb which forced the closure of a road in Ealing turned out to be a garden roller.

Met police were called to reports of a suspicious item in Camborne Avenue at 2.33pm on Friday (July 29).

It forced officers to close the road around 15 minutes later, with reports suggesting a WW2 bomb had been found.

But upon further inspection, officers found the item to be a garden roller and re-opened the road at around 4pm.

On Monday (July 25) Putney Bridge station in Fulham was closed after a suitcase prompted a security scare .

But officers at the scene soon established that the suitcase was non-suspicious and tracked down its owner.

Transport for London (TfL) said District Line trains did not stop at the station between 1.40pm and 2.20pm, while the Met said the river crossing itself was closed for a short while.
