Storm Doris is expected to bring gale force winds and downpours of rain to the capital as is tears across England and Wales.

The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for London on Friday February 3 warning of up to 70mph winds and possible disruption to travel.

It is predicted that 80mph winds, rain, sleet and snow are forecast to batter other parts of England and Wales and whilst the Met Office has yet to name a storm, the next name on the list is Doris.

For Friday February 3, an updated weather warning says: "Gusts of 60 to 70mph may still occur in southern counties, where there remains a small chance of 80mph gusts in exposed coastal areas.

"If such winds were to happen, we would expect damage to trees and perhaps buildings, possible disruption to power supplies as well as delayed travel."

A spokesman for the Met Office , Graham Madge, told getwestlondon that people in London could expect to see strong winds.

He also warned of extremely unsettled weather in the coming days.

"We have a very vigorous jet stream which is a band of high altitude winds coming across the Atlantic that will help steer low pressure systems towards us and there are a number over the next few days which will be heading our way," he said.

The Met Office Tweeted to warn of the potential of gales in the south.

And as we continue into the weekend, the weather it not looking much better, as the forecast for London says it will be "most likely unsettled over the weekend with heavy rain and strong winds possible".
