The Met Office severe weather warning will unfortunately be what welcomes us into the weekend.

Storm Doris, as it could be named, is set to bring gale force winds of up to 70mph with the potential of travel disruption to the capital today, Friday February 3, and into the very early hours of Saturday, February 4.

However, as we wake up on Saturday morning, winds will begin to clear.

Met Office weather presenter, Aidan McGivern, said: "This weekend stays unsettled but the worst of the winds will ease, many places will see some dry and bright weather and it will begin to feel a little colder."

The wind will ease as we move into the weekend

It will be a cold start to the weekend with temperatures on Saturday, February 4 only reaching highs of 6°C.

The Met Office forecast for London states: "A dry and bright start but cloud thickening rapidly with some rain possible mainly for southeastern parts through the day.

"Feeling cold under the cloud despite lighter winds.

"Frost and fog risk early Sunday, otherwise mainly dry and sunny."

So after a blustery Friday, the weather is not looking too bad this weekend, so maybe you will have the chance to head outside after all.
