Hurricane winds have battered West London overnight and early this morning causing damage and travel disruption.

In Bath Road, Hounslow, three homes have suffered extensive damage after a tree collapsed causing a gas main to rupture at around 9am this morning. More than 30 firefighters have been dealing with the incident, and it is confirmed that three people fled the properties before the emergency services arrived.

An elderly woman has been taken to hospital by London Ambulance. Three puppies were also rescued.

The Fire Brigade said in a statement: "Urban search and rescue crews are working to make the structure safe and ensure any fires are put out. Twelve people were evacuated from surrounding properties as a precaution. Crews have rescued a dog from one of the houses. Six fire engines are at the scene with a number of specialist vehicles."

9.00am: Transport for London (TfL) has confirmed that overground trains commenced running at 9am today, while London Underground lines are experience partial or severe delays, with the exception of the Hammersmith & City, Victoria and Waterloo & City lines.

8.00am: On the roads we are getting reports of queueing traffic on A406 Gunnersbury Avenue (North Circular Road) in both directions, caused by a fallen tree earlier. All lanes have been re-opened. There is congestion to the A40 Western Avenue junction and to Chiswick Roundabout. While the A404 Rickmansworth Road in Pinner blocked in both directions between the B466 Cuckoo Hill junction and Northwood Hills Circus, because of a fallen tree.

7.00am: Heathrow and Gatwick airports are experiencing weather related disruption and passengers are advised to contact their airline before travelling.

6.45am: A man reported to 29-years-old hit by a tree near the junction of Norwood Road and King Street in Ealing just before 6.45am. He was conscious and attended by an ambulance crew and a responder in a car and was treated for head, chest and foot injuries before being taken to Ealing Hospital.

6.40am: A tree fallen onto a van on Gunnersbury Avenue, W5 just before 6.40am. An ambulance crew and responder in a car attended the scene and treated a man in his 50s, who was conscious. He was complaining of back pain, and was immobilised using a board and neck collar before being taken to St Mary’s Hospital on blue lights.
