A perverted office worker with a fetish for watching women urinate has pleaded guilty to hiding a covert camera in the toilet of a Starbucks coffee shop.

Anthony Dines, 31, admitted to Camberwell Green Magistrates' Court that he had installed the spy camera in the toilet of the Vauxhall coffee shop, after he was identified by his colleagues.

The camera was discovered by a male Starbucks customer on November 22, 2016, 10 months after it was installed and exactly a year before his arrest.

Prosecutor George Crivelli told the court that the man had "looked up at the ceiling and noticed a light shining".

"Upon closer inspection it became clear that he could see a camera, he stood on the toilet seat and touched the device," he added.

Footage of Dines installing the device was captured on his spy cam and retrieved along with 23 other videos and an appeal was issued.

In the video, which was not released to the press, Dines can be seen using a screwdriver to install his voice activated camera, which only filmed when someone was in the toilet, before he wiped the toilet seat of his footprints.

Members of staff at the company he worked at identified Dines and reported him to the police who arrested him at his workplace in New Malden on Wednesday (November 22).

A Starbucks spokesman said in a statement, "These incidents are rare and we would like to reassure our customers that we conduct regular checks on our in-store facilities."

At the time of arrest he appeared to distance himself from his rucksack, which was found to contain small cameras, memory cards, a screwdriver and nine pairs of women's underwear.

Police searched his home in Shortlands Road, Kingston and found the scarf he was wearing in the footage and several memory cards.

Over the course of two police interviews, Dines admitted he had installed the Starbucks camera in February 2016 and told police he had installed two at his workplace in New Malden.

He said that he had a fetish for women urinating and that he had installed the cameras "in order to receive sexual gratification".

Anthony Dines admitted to the court that he had placed the spy cameras in toilets in Starbucks and at his work place

Asked about the ladies' underwear, he said they had belonged to his ex-girlfriend but he had kept hold of them.

He was charged with four counts of voyeurism contrary to Section 67 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003 and pleaded guilty.

Despite the nature of his crimes, Dines may avoid jail time as District Judge Karen Hammond ordered probation reports and said "I am looking at a community order".

However she did warn Dines that all options were on the table and that he may still face jail time when he returns for sentencing at the same court on December 6.

He was granted conditional bail until his sentencing hearing, but is not allowed to enter any public house with a toilet and must not be in possession of any recording equipment.
