A gunman is still being hunted following a fatal shooting in Southall at the weekend.

The victim, 26-year-old Khalid Abdi Farah, from Greenford , died from gunshot wounds in the early hours of Saturday (November 11) after he was discovered critically injured in Lady Margaret Road.

A murder probe is ongoing and the road was expected to remained closed to the public throughout Monday.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene at around 1.23am, with a murder investigation soon launched and a crime scene put in place .

The shooting stunned the community, with many taking to social media to express their shock and grief, while the Ealing Police borough commander has spoken out to reassure residents .

Police said “a large group gathered shortly after the shooting” and anyone who was present at the time has been asked to contact Scotland Yard.

Paramedics took the victim to a central London hospital, but he was pronounced dead at 3.23am.

Chief Superintendent Paul Martin later tweeted: “If you know anything or were part of the group in the area at the time please come forward, don’t let your silence be the delay in catching those involved.”

Southall MP Virendra Sharma urged people with information to help the police investigation.

He wrote on Twitter: “Very sad news from Lady Margaret Road, a life snuffed out. We don’t expect these things in our community, but I urge everyone to cooperate with the investigation.”

Shaken residents responded to the news on social media, with many commenting on how crime in the area had increased in recent years.

Kezza JJ said: “Should be shocked, but sadly immune to this kind of news in Southall now.”

Officers from the Metropolitan Police Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating the shooting

No arrests have yet been made.
