A Met Police officer was injured during a struggle with a “violent and prolific shoplifter” in Southall.

Southall Broadway cops took to Twitter to ask if people had seen a “commotion” on The Broadway in Southall on Saturday morning (May 6).

They added a “violent prolific shoplifter” was arrested by the team and then allegedly assaulted officers.

PC Jaz Alangh told getwestlondon he arrested the “aggressive” shoplifter but she resisted and then assaulted him, causing a bruise to the shin.

PC Alangh said the incident happened at Greg’s bakery in The Broadway, Southall, adding the 21-year-old woman had allegedly “taken a load of sandwiches amounting to just under £20”.

“She was safely detained eventually and taken to Southall police station,” he added.
