Police have praised a passer-by who may just have "saved a life" after reporting to police a man threatening to jump from a bridge .
Officers from the Metropolitan Police were called to the Ossie Garvin Roundabout , along the A312 in Hayes , at around 12.15pm on Saturday (October 14).
Police rushed to the scene, along with London Ambulance Service staff, following reports a man was on the bridge threatening to jump .
A spokesman for the Met Police confirmed the A312 The Parkway and "surrounding roads" were shut to "avoid traffic going under the bridge".
The roads were initially closed at 12.15pm and reopened at around 2.25pm.

A Twitter user, who said they witnessed the incident and reported it to the police, wrote: "Hope everything ended up ok at Ossie Garvin after I reported it."
To which police in Hayes replied: "My understanding is that police have taken the individual to hospital - sounds like you saved a life today."
A spokesman for the Met said the force was awaiting an update on the man's condition.
In April 2016, two similar incidents happened at the same location within a week. Two men were taken to hospital for treatment under the Mental Health Act.
