Six people escaped a house fire in the middle of the night in Hayes believed to have been caused by a candle.

The people living in the two-storey house on Frogmore Avenue managed to leave the property unharmed before dozens of firefighters arrived at the scene.

The fire services warned candles are one of the most common causes of a fire and must never be left unattended, following the incident on Sunday (January 10) night.
