A shopkeeper was struck over the head in an attempted robbery in Hanworth.

The attack happened at a shop on Hounslow Road just after 6am on Friday (June 17) morning.

A man was treated by paramedics for minor head injuries at the scene and did not require further hospital treatment.

A suspect made off on foot and officers in Hounslow are investigating the incident further.

Police said they were called at 6.13am this morning to an attempted robbery at a shop on Hounslow Road in Hanworth.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police added: “A member of shop staff was hit over the head. He was treated by London Ambulance Service staff at the scene but did not require hospital treatment.

“The suspect made off on foot and nothing was stolen.

“Officers from Hounslow CID are investigating.”

No arrests have been made at this early stage.
