This CCTV footage shows the terrifying moment a delivery driver was attacked with acid .

The Metropolitan Police has released the footage to trace the suspect wanted after the victim suffered burns to his face.

At around 6.20pm on May 2, the young man suffered a “horrible assault ” after having corrosive substance sprayed into his face

The victim, a delivery driver of a nearby takeaway in Bow, suffered burns to his face and required hospital treatment.

While in his car entering details into his satellite navigation in Dane Place, the victim was approached by a suspect on a bike, who demanded money.

When the driver said that he did not have any money, he was squirted in the face with a chemical which smelt of ammonia.

The suspect, described as a white youth, tried to open the locked driver's door and eventually got in through the passenger's seat as the victim tried to wipe the substance off his face.

The acid attack took place on Dane Place earlier this year

After the suspect cycled off, the young victim ran into the nearby takeaway and called the police.

London Ambulance Service attended the scene and took the victim to an east London hospital.

He was later discharged and his injuries are not life-changing.
