If you’re planning to fly away somewhere abroad during the summer months you may want to pack any valuables and fragile items in your hand luggage, just in case you’re unfortunate enough to get baggage handlers like this lot.

Video footage has emerged showing staff lobbing and kicking suitcases from an aeroplane onto a waiting trolley “with no care at all”.

It was filmed by Alan Hodge as he waited with his family for his flight out to France from Gatwick Airport .

The bus driver was flying to La Rochelle on easyJet in July when he caught the footage before uploading the video to YouTube.

easyJet said it was “appalled” and had launched an investigation.

Mr Hodge, 37, said: “The first thing they took out was a buggy, which was launched across the whole platform and it landed pretty hard, there would have almost definitely been damage to it,” he said.

“My whole family were there and we were in shock we were thinking that it could be our cases. They were throwing them into the air and kicking them.

“Some of the cases were launched from one end to the other, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

“I would have liked to scream and shout at them and tell them to behave - if I saw someone doing that on my bus, I would certainly not keep quiet.

“But they were looking around to see if anyone was watching them, they knew that they shouldn’t be doing it.”

A spokesperson for the low-cost airline said it was treating the incident very seriously. He said: “easyJet are appalled to see this footage.

“We would like to assure our passengers that this is absolutely not the standard of baggage handling we expect from our suppliers and we will investigate this incident thoroughly.”
