Shepherd's Bush Market Tube station was evacuated today (October 8) and nearby roads closed as police investigated an abandoned car.

Metropolitan police were called to reports of the abandoned car on a road near the station at 4.08pm, but officers have since said the car is "non-suspicious" and have left the scene.

Transport for London (TfL) said: "Shepherds Bush Market: This station is closed due to a security alert outside the station."

On Twitter, TfL also said: "A4020 Uxbridge Road / A219 Shepherds Bush Green - road closed due to a police incident. Emergency services on-scene."

The station and roads nearby have now re-opened.

Earlier today (October 8), police issued an appeal after a man was assaulted in Hammersmith by a teenager wielding a knife on October 2.

The 36-year-old victim was returning from a night out with his girlfriend on October 2 when he was approached by a teenager wielding a knife in Greyhound Road, close to the junction with Musard Road, at around 2.28am.
