Commuters are experiencing long delays this morning, January 31 after a road traffic collision on the A406 North Circular Road.

The road is closed eastbound at the Junction with Hanger lane for recovering work after a lorry overturned.

Traffic is being affected on the A406 southbound, the A4005 Hanger Lane, the A4020 Uxbridge Road and the A40 to Northolt .

Transport for London are warning motorists to expect delays.

Here is the latest update from the Transport for London:

Traffic is slow on approach and the A40 has eastbound tailbacks from Hanger Lane past Swakeleys Roundabout and towards the M40 and M25. A406 southbound is slow on approach with tailbacks to now to Staples Corner Flyover due to onlookers.
Tailbacks on the A4005 Hanger Lane now extend to Whitton Avenue East.
The A406 northbound on approach to the Hanger Lane Gyratory now has tailbacks to the A4020 Uxbridge Road

90 minutes added to your journey

Not good news we’re afraid. An hour and a half could be added to your journey if you’re on the A40 eastbound (Western Avenue), according to reports. It’s all due to the earlier overturned lorry on the North Circular Road.

One lane reopen

Transport for London says one lane has now reopened east-bound on the A406 North Circular Road to help traffic keep moving, but heavy delays continue on all approaches to Hanger Lane.

Metropolitan Police say they were called to reports of an overturned lorry at 3.30am. A spokesman said: “We are still at the scene assisting. We’ve got to recover it.”
