This CCTV footage shows the terrifying moment a shopkeeper was stabbed in the neck in an unprovoked knife attack.
The attacker, Andrew Jefferson, was convicted of attempted murder at Southwark Crown Court on Tuesday (March 10) and is due to be sentenced on April 22.
The court heard how Jefferson, 52, of no fixed abode, attacked the shop owner inside the store, in London Street, Paddington, at 12.10am on October 18 last year.
Jefferson had apparently chosen his victim at random.
The footage shows him walking calmly around the till, his face uncovered, before stabbing the shop owner in the neck and arm with a kitchen knife.
The victim also sustained leg injuries from falling on broken glass.
Colleagues at the store detained Jefferson while waiting for officers to arrive and arrest him.
Detective Constable Graham Hillsdon, of Westminster CID, said: "The men showed extreme bravery by tackling the knifeman while their colleague called the police, and holding him until officers arrived minutes later.
"If it wasn't for these men, Jefferson may have gone on to kill or seriously injure someone else that night."
