FC Koln fans took over the streets of London ahead of their Europa League clash against Arsenal on Thursday (September 15).

Hundreds of office workers on social media shared the incredible scenes of fans storming the capital's city centre.

They were seen by an office worker at Piccadilly Circus at around 1pm as they began to "slow the traffic".

David Grabauskas, an office worker from London, said: "After coming back from a meeting I saw the fans take over Piccadilly Circus and the traffic began to slow down.

"Then a march passed my office on Oxford Street with their drums a couple of hours later. It was chaos."

In the video, it shows the German club fans shouting and letting off flares and throwing bottles throughout the district of Soho.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that "at around 3pm a large group of football fans gathered in Oxford Street".

A police spokesman said: "The group were at the location for about 30 minutes whilst they boarded public transport to travel to a football match this evening.

"They did throw bottles and let off flares, but there was no significant disorder, police were on scene and there have been no arrests. The group has now left the area."

Cologne fans have been handed an allocation of 3,000 tickets for the match at the Emirates but it appears more have arrived for the event.

Arsenal is aware of the interest from away fans and released a message on the club website detailing plans to keep home and visiting fans separate.

It reads: "Please note visiting supporters that purchase a ticket in the home end for this fixture are likely to be ejected from the stadium.

"We have made this decision following consultation with the police and to ensure we are in line with crowd segregation requirements."
