Boris Johnson sat down in South Ruislip's Rumbling Tum Cafe to speak with getwestlondon over a milky builder's tea on a rainy Friday afternoon (May 19) as he seeks re-election.

The former Mayor of London has been campaigning for the Conservative Party across the country, pushing Prime Minister Theresa May's manifesto to voters, as well as in his own Uxbridge and South Ruislip seat.

On a busy day campaigning around west London, Boris answered some questions we put to him.

The Foreign Secretary appeared on Robert Peston's ITV show on Sunday claiming the infamous £350m a week "Brexit Bus" promise to the NHS was in the Conservative party's manifesto.

London's knife crime epidemic has hit west London hard, with stabbings taking place in Uxbridge and Yiewsley within Mr Johnson's constituency.

We asked him what needed to be done to put an end to the fatal epidemic.

When Boris was elected to be the MP for the area in 2015, by a majority of over 10,000 votes, he said in his victory speech that he would "lie in front of those bulldozers and stop the construction of that third runway" at Heathrow Airport .

On the campaign trail Mr Johnson visited a Sikh temple, Gurdwara, in Bristol, where he made controversial comments about the community being able to take whiskey as gifts on trips to India thanks to Conservative alcohol duty policies.

He was then challenged by the member of the audience who took offence to Mr Johnson promoting alcohol in a Gurdwara, in front of their holy book, given that alcohol is prohibited in the religion.

We asked Mr Johnson whether, given the large Sikh community in the constituency, he could reassure ethnic minority voters that he understood their values and beliefs.

Housing is one of the most hotly debated topics in the election, especially house building in London. We asked Mr Johnson what can be done to get people into their own homes.

Given his intense Westminster and foreign schedule, we wanted to see how well the candidate for Uxbridge and South Ruislip knew the area.

He was full of praise for Uxbridge Italian Restaurant, Nonna Rosa, which he frequents with John Randall , his predecessor.

He declined to name his favourite pub or bar in the area but did say that he found peace in the Hillingdon Outdoor Activity Centre, and talked about its future, given the threat posed by HS2 .
